Custom Fields!
In several of our products, such as inventory systems, we allow the users to create custom fields. Some products are used in so many different ways by so many schools that custom fields are necessary, it would be difficult to use the products without them. In our two oldest products, our technology and building work orders systems, we have just added custom fields at the request of several users. Now, if you need to add a question or comment to a work order form, you can simply click on Setup and Custom Fields and add/subtract fields as you need for your school!
Why would you need this? One example would be building work orders. If your department makes safety issues a priority, you can now add the question "Is this a safety issue?". Your department technicians can easily see from the details if a work order presents a safety issue (like broken glass, faulty kitchen equipment, etc) and work on that work order first.
As always, thank you all for your business!

Sites up and running
Yesterday we experienced outages in our school services. Our domain registrar, OpenSRS was under a DDOS attack and shut down many of their dns servers to mitigate damage. Millions of sites were affected, but the attack seems to have been stopped and we are up and running. We are very sorry for the trouble yesterday, many schools were trying to finish up last minute projects before the holiday breaks and the downtime caused problems with those projects. We use Alertra, a service that checks our availability every 15 minutes and calls and emails us whenever there is an interruption, so rest assured we know as soon as there is a problem and we begin working on it immediately.

Tech comments and user info add changes
When an Administrator or Building Administrator adds comments to a work order, those comments are displayed for administrators and technicians in the technology work order system (or building administrators and building technicians in the building work order system).  Bill Thoms of Trails Regional Library pointed out that those comments can be missed by technicians and that it would be helpful for the system to email those comments directly to the assigned technician.  We added that feature to the technology and building work order systems this morning.
We also added a link to the work order pop-ups (in both the building and technology systems) so that users can click to add information to their own work orders.  Now users can hover and click rather than opening the work order, clicking on the user tab, then clicking on the add information link.  Every bit of time saved helps!
Thanks again to all our customers and to Bill for his suggestions.  Email your ideas for our systems to todd@bluechalksoftware.com

Building Address Update
Today we added street address, city, state, and zip fields to the building records in the intranet databases.  This really won't affect users today, but it will give us the ability to add useful mapping, google map overlays, and transportation tracking features in the future.  Thanks again for your business!
